1) Why should I use the available application
form instead of sending you a detailed Curriculum Vitae? Using a
standard form will save time during the evaluation of applications, thus
allowing us to give you a feedback in a shorter time. Besides, through the use
of a standard form we will be able to fairly evaluate your application.
2) Why should I date and sign the application form? You are the
only responsible for the reported information. By signing the form you certify
that all the information reported are true. In case the information provided
are incomplete or proved as false we will not proceed with your application.
2) Why not a motivation letter? We do not
need a motivation / presentation letter from you or from your sending organisation
at this stage. All the information we need are included in our standard form.
3) How many applications do you receive on
average? We are
currently receiving around one hundred applications per month. This is one of the reasons
why we created a standard form to speed up the evaluation of applicant’s
candidature and provide an individual feedback in the shortest time possible.
4) I applied for your project but meanwhile I
have been selected by another organisation for another project (sic). What should I do? In this
case we kindly ask you to tell us about that. Your candidature will not be
processed any further.
5) Who will read my form? Is it secure to give
personal information? Your
personal information and privacy are safe and protected. Under no circumstance will
personal information be given to other organisations or body to other purposes
than the EVS. Only Mondo Nuovo staff will have access to your data and only to
evaluate and carry out of the planned EVS project. Your personal data can be
deleted immediately at anytime upon request.
6) Are there any costs for the volunteer? No. The
volunteer do not have to pay any cost for to process his candidature, for asking
information etc. and they are not requested to buy any “membership” for the EVS.
The costs of training, travel, lodging and food, insurance, visa (if required),
language course, local transport are supported by the Youth in Action Programme.
Therefore those services are absolutely free for the volunteer. See the Youth
in Action Programme guide 2011 or contact you Sending Organization.
7) How much will I “earn” per month? Please,
remember that EVS is unpaid volunteering. The
volunteer receives a small amount of money called “monthly allowance” that is
calculated by the programme according to the real cost of living.
8) I am motivated to apply for this project but
I do not have a sending organisation. What should I do? It is not a
problem at this stage for us. However, according to the YiA Programme EVS
volunteers must have a sending organisation from their country. In the case you
do not have a sending organisation or need help from us, we may help you to
find a Sending Organisation in your Country.
9) How long do I have to wait until I am
informed about the status of my candidature? We will
provide the applicant with an individual feedback about the status of their
candidature. However, because of the high demand for this project, it may take
a couple of weeks.
10) I represent a Sending Organisation and we
have one or more applicant interested in your project. What should we do? Applicants
must apply on individual basis. However, if your organization is interested in
establishing a partnership with Mondo Nuovo for future project we feel free to
write to evs@mondo-nuovo.org We welcome
new partnership from organisation established in any country of the World.
11) I am interested in attending an internship
or a job shadowing period in your organization. Can I? We are a
hosting, sending and coordinating organization in the framework of Youth in
Action – action 2. EVS is not an internship or a traineeship and under no
circumstances is it possible to allow job substitution.
12) Do you offer “special summer or holiday”
short-period projects; let’s say for one or two months? We do not
“offer” any “special summer or holiday” projects. Please, remember that EVS is
not a paid holiday! We do try to help young people with fewer opportunities for
short-term EVS.
13) I applied for your project but I have not
been selected. Can I apply again? Of course,
if you are not selected for the current round you can apply again for the next
deadline! We would
like to welcome all of you here! However, we are receiving dozens of
application per week but we can host only a limited number of volunteers per
year and at once. We are doing our best to increase the number of volunteers in
service.
14) I have a large experience in volunteering
and I am highly-schooled. Why I have not been “selected” for the project? In
compliance with the provision of the EVS charter and the Youth in Action
Programme, we do not discriminate applicants on the basis of their previous
experience, education, training, language skills, gender, geographical
location, race, belief, political views. Please refer to the Programme Guide
2011 for more information about that. See also question n. 13.
15) Why applying is just the first step when it
comes to EVS? What am I supposed to do? According
to the EVS Charter, the volunteer must be involved in every phase of the
project. Therefore, we expect selected volunteers to cooperate with us and
their Sending Organisation to better define the project and activities. Remember
that the Expressions of
Interest available on the EVS database are the very early ideas of what kind of
project could take place. Therefore, we also need feedbacks and ideas from you.
16) I have read your project on the EVS
database and I applied today. Can I start next week? Please
remember that what you read on the EVS database is just a draft plan a very
early idea, though detailed, of the project. We need to be
in contact with you and your sending organisation to better define the project
according to your ideas and interests and, finally, to apply to the National
Agency. EVS
projects must be approved by the National Agencies. The official response from
the National Agency is given approximately within two months after the
application deadline. No EVS activity can start before that date. Please read
here for more information http://eacea.ec.europa.eu/youth/programme/calendar_en.php
and see Question n. 15
17) I am not a citizen from a European Country.
Can I apply? Of course
you can. If you live in any Country from one of the countries listed as “other
countries of the world” we may also help you to find a sending organisation in
your own Country. See also Question n. 8
18) I cannot find an answer to my question
here. What can I do? If you
cannot find an answer to your question, please write to us at evs@mondo-nuovo.org Your
questions and feedbacks are very important for us and for all the young people
who are interested in our project. 19) What is your Experession of Interest Number?
Our E.I. number is 2010-IT-175
20) We are a group of friends from the same city / university and we want to work together in your
project. Is this possible? Unfortunately it is not possible for us host more than one
volunteer from the same city or country all at once for two main
reasons. Firstly, your intercultural experience will not be as
excellent and interesting as we would like it to be. Secondly, we
are planning to host 4 volunteers and we are trying to keep gender
and geographical balance as far as possible.
21) We are a group of friends. Can we come there at different times or
can work in different projects? in which dates we can come
there?
The basic idea of our project (as published on the European
Database) is to have 4 volunteers working on different tasks in
the framework of a single project.
We are planning to apply for June 1st deadline and the service
should start in October if approved by our National
Agency.
Of course if you are not selected for this deadline, we strongly
encourage you to apply again.
22) Can
we stay for about 9 months or one year?
We are planning to apply to our NA for a project of 6 months on June 1st.
23) Do you know any other organisation which want
volunteers that you can suggest us?
Generally we do not advice international applicants about other
projects or organisations based in Italy for a simple reason: it
depends on your personal interests and motivation. Therefore, we
suggest you to look up the right project for you in the EVS Database
rather than choosing the country where you would like to serve and then
contact directly the Hosting Organization.
24) Is there any deadline to apply?
The
deadline to apply for the service starting in October 2011 is 1 April
201. To apply for the project starting in April 2012 the deadline is
October 2011. For more information, see news update.
